BMH for the cement industry

Complete solutions for SRF production and alternative fuel handling.

Built to run on SRF, RDF, solid biomass and other alternative fuels.

When SRF is the primary fuel, reliable handling from waste to flame becomes critical

BMH designs, manufactures and delivers complete SRF production lines and cement plant alternative fuel handling systems including receiving, storage and feeding. We serve cement plants and their fuel suppliers worldwide.

Cement producers today are pushing for higher thermal substitution rates, lower fuel costs, and reductions in fossil CO₂ emissions. Alternative fuels such SRF (solid recovered fuel), RDF (refuse-derived fuel) and solid biomass make this possible by replacing fossil fuels in both calciner and main burner, while turning waste into a valuable energy and raw material source.

BMH’s SRF production lines produce high-quality SRF even for the most demanding combustion. Our dosing and feeding systems deliver alternative fuels to the calciner and other feeding points. Together, they make up to 100 % thermal substitution rate possible.

Using alternative fuels in cement production raises the bar for both the equipment and the process. Every step from waste receiving through SRF production to kiln and calciner feeding has to run reliably. BMH equipment has been proven in power plants and other industrial applications where alternative fuels have long been the primary energy source. The same fuel handling expertise now delivers the availability, service life and uninterrupted supply that cement plants and their fuel suppliers depend on.

BMH tailors every project to your operation, whether that means a turnkey SRF project delivery, a TSR increase project, or targeted additions to your existing fuel handling process.

BMH equipment for cement plant alternative fuel handling systems

Receiving and handling

Safety, flexibility and automation are the foundations of BMH receiving and material handling solutions.

Automatic silo storage

BMH’s automatic silo systems give cement plants reliable storage of SRF and similar fuels. The first-in-first-out principle prevents fuel ageing, while the homogenising and mixing effect ensures a consistent feed to downstream processes.

The fully closed construction is fire-safe, the system operates fully automated, and the compact footprint fits even tightly built cement plants.

Feeding and dosing systems

BMH’s rotary feeders deliver precise volumetric dosing of solid fuels, sludges and dusty materials for capacities from 40 to 300 m³/h. The robust construction handles challenging materials with low maintenance, with the option for sealing air injection.

Where the process requires pneumatic feeding, BMH integrates proven technology as part of the complete alternative fuel handling solution.

Case example

CIMPOR Alhandra & Souselas: Raising TSR step by step across two plants

More than 10 years ago, BMH delivered a full turnkey SRF receiving, storage, handling, and feeding line to CIMPOR’s cement plants in Portugal. The systems are still in operation today, supporting the plants’ original TSR target of 40 %.

To reach the new target of up to 80 %, BMH is now installing additional SRF capacity, including a new receiving station, automatic storage solution, as well as dosing and feeding system to calciner. Delivering such system inside a tightly built, operating cement plant takes more than robust equipment: it requires visionary, innovative engineering, on-site adaptability, and a professional installation team.

The turnkey scope for the delivery includes a receiving station, quality control with screening and separation, automatic storage silo, conveying including bucket elevator, dosing and pneumatic feeding.

Producing SRF in-house for reliable supply and consistent quality

To secure timely fuel supply and consistent fuel quality, more cement plants are investing in their own SRF production. BMH delivers complete SRF production lines for both calciner and main burner grade fuel.

SRF production lines for cement applications

The TYRANNOSAURUS® 9900 SRF Production Line covers 100,000 to 500,000+ tpa for high-demand applications.

The TYRANNOSAURUS® 8500 SRF Production Line covers 60,000 to 120,000 tpa as a cost-effective open belt conveyor solution.

For green field projects, retrofits and modernizations, we provide various shredding and separation modules for all capacity ranges.

Case example

SsangYong Cement, Donghae, Korea: Two identical SRF production lines, 1,200 tpd in total

SsangYong Cement’s plant in Donghae produces its own SRF on-site from industrial and commercial waste. BMH delivered two identical separation and shredding modules with total capacity of 1,200 tpd, processing the input material to fine SRF. Below 25 mm particle size is suited for main burner use, where the demands on fuel quality are at their highest.

The scope of lines delivered included TYRANNOSAURUS® 2500 Air-classifiers, electrical magnets, eddy current separation and TYRANNOSAURUS® 1204 Fine Shredders.

Achieving high TSR with BMH’s solutions – Why cement plants and SRF producers choose us

From SRF receiving to calciner and main burner feeding, BMH delivers complete fuel handling systems tailored to your applications and cement plant process.

Strong engineering skills and a deep understanding of how each part contributes to the whole line translate into reliable solutions with high availability and uptime.

BMH has decades of experience in both turnkey deliveries and integration into existing processes. We regularly carry out modifications to existing process lines, including demolition, fitting, and installation of shredders and related equipment.

Deep understanding across customer segments enables the right solutions even as material streams change. For example, our broad biomass handling expertise carries over directly when shifting from plastic-rich SRF to more bio-based content.
