Fine shredder for waste – a combination of high power and efficient cutting area
In RDF/SRF production, fuel quality determines how the fuel performs in downstream processing – and the fine shredder’s cutting technology plays a significant role in it. Fuel quality is built on two things: a clean cut and a consistent particle size. The TYRANNOSAURUS® 1200 | 1200A delivers both, producing homogeneous, high-grade RDF/SRF that meets the specifications of cement producers, power generators, and pellet manufacturers.
The TYRANNOSAURUS® 1200A Fine Shredder plays a significant role in any RDF/SRF process line where even particle size is a key factor. Designed for industrial-scale refining of pre-shredded and segregated solid waste, the 1200 | 1200A fine shredder reduces material to a homogeneous particle size of 20–70 mm with high capacity. The fine shredder increases fuel combustibility and optimises the feed for further processing.
High power, a large screening area that reduces heat build-up in the process, and proven cutting technology combine to keep capacity high and availability consistent. Typical applications include alternative fuel for cement kilns, feedstock for RDF pellet production, and feedstock for chemical production. A wide selection of optional equipment enables even higher capacity and wider applications.

What materials can the TYRANNOSAURUS® 1200 | 1200A process
The 1200 | 1200A Fine Shredder is suitable for various materials.
Industrial and Commercial waste meaning mostly source-segregated solid waste, which is generated e.g., by manufacturing and industrial processes, stores, offices, restaurants, and warehouses. Consists mainly of cardboard, plastics, and packaging materials.

High capacity is built on four things working together. The 1200 mm rotor houses 312 knives, with knife size and rotation speed optimised for high production. A spiral knife arrangement distributes power effectively across each cutting event. An automated pusher keeps material pressed against the rotor, maintaining steady throughput. High-power motors with built-in reserve handle sudden load variations without interruption.
The Zero Gap® cutting technology keeps throughput high even as the knives start to wear, extending service intervals and protecting capacity between maintenance stops.

Unique patented features of TYRANNOSAURUS® Fine Shredder
Optimal cutting performance with Zero Gap® technology
Shredding is a wear-intensive function. As knives wear, capacity, particle size consistency and quality typically begin to decline. Zero Gap® solves this by keeping the cutting gap at zero even as the knives start to wear.
Each 800 mm section of the counter knives is hydraulically adjusted and can be set independently, keeping the gap optimal across the full width of the rotor. Capacity, particle size, and output quality stay consistent even as the knives wear, and service intervals are longer.
Zero Gap® also enables clean cutting of the thinnest waste materials, such as plastic films and foils. The result is lower power consumption, longer knife lifetime, and the lowest possible production cost, while maintaining high capacity.
Fewer stops and faster recovery with Impact Protection™
Mixed waste streams typically contain unshreddable materials such as rocks, scrap metals, and concrete objects. By the time the pre-shredded and segregated waste reaches the secondary shredding stage, these objects should already be removed, yet individual pieces sometimes remain.
The Impact Protection™ function keeps these from damaging the shredder. The counter-knives are held in position hydraulically, and when an unshreddable object enters the cutting chamber, the knives release to let it pass through without impact. This enables easy and fast removal of the object.
The result is fewer process stops, shorter stops when they do happen, and a fine shredder protected from the kind of damage that unshreddable materials typically cause.
Optional equipment and feature for TYRANNOSAURUS® Fine Shredder series
Our optional equipment enable reaching an even more capacity and wider applications. Available options are a pusher, a variety of screens and a support frame.
Pusher
The hydraulically operated pusher efficiently presses the waste against the rotor knives. This keeps up continuous high shredding performance and enables processing lighter input materials.
For very light and fluffy feed materials, the pusher can be extended.
Screens
The 1200A has a 50% larger screening area than the previous 1200 model. A wide range of available screens secures the shredder’s adaptability to various applications. The carefully selected aperture size and shape also improve the shredder’s capacity in each application.
Support frame
The support frame for 1200A Fine Shredder enables installing the shredder easily on top of a discharge conveyor.
