Biomass Fuel Handling Solution delivered to Västerås, Sweden

Founded in 1861, Mälarenergi AB in Sweden is an established community builder and a part of Västerås history. It is the main energy supplier and infra service company in the region supplying electricity, district heating and district cooling, water and sewage, and fast communication solutions.

Already for two decades, the company's mission has been to gradually shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. The newly built Unit 7 sets an end to an era of fossil fuels at Mälarenergi as it now operates completely on renewable fuels.

BMH Technology's delivery to Mälarenergi's Unit 7 is a complete solid biofuel handling system. The main fuel for the plant is recycled wood, which is harvested both from surrounding areas and also imported from abroad. The delivery consists of a fuel receiving station for trucks, fuel quality control station including magnetic separation and screening, a 6 000 m³ fuel silo with a TYRANNOSAURUS® Rotating Screw Reclaimer, conveying systems as well as all auxiliary equipment, complete electrification and automation.
